Referees Assigned for SuperLiga 2007

Referees from all over the region to participate in SuperLiga

NEW YORK (Wednesday, July 18, 2007) – The referees, assistants and fourth officials for the group phase of the inaugural SuperLiga – the tournament that matches four clubs from Major League Soccer with four teams from the Mexican "Primera División" – were announced today. The referees for the Semifinals and the Final are yet to be determined.

The U.S. Soccer Federation, CONCACAF and the Federación Mexicana de Fútbol that oversee the assignment, evaluation and training of all the referees in its respective country or region, joined forces in the assignment of the officiating crews who will call each match during the tournament. It should be noted that for all matches between a Mexican club and MLS club, a neutral referee has been assigned. In the case of a match between Mexican clubs, a referee from the Mexican "Primera División" has been assigned. Meanwhile, all matches between MLS sides will be officiated by a referee from Major League Soccer.

All referees hail from the CONCACAF region with the exception of Samir Osman from Egypt. Osman will participate in SuperLiga as a result of a unique exchange program between the USSF and the Egyptian Football Federation.

Below is a list of all officiating crews listed by match.
